Site Security Your information is secured by Thawte. The certificate information will show: ACM Systems, acmsafe.com How to tell if a webpage is secure. 1. Simply look at the URL in your browser for each page you are on. 2. When you are on a "Secure" page, make sure the URL starts "https" (not just "http" - the "s" is for SECURE). 3. When that is the case, then double click on the locked "lock" icon on the bottom of your browser window frame. 4. That will bring up an information box that tells you all about the certificate (the owner, city, state, validity dates, etc.). 5. Make sure that that information matches the company that owns the site (or you think owns the site) you are visiting. If you find that the "lock" does not appear in your browser when you are at SSL protected site you may check the certificate by completing the following steps. If using an Microsoft Internet Explorer browser. 1. Click "File." 2. Select "Properties." A smaller window will open containing the General Properties of the connection. 3. Click on "Certificate." It is found in the bottom right-hand corner of the window. Another window will open and display the SSL certificate protecting the site. If using Netscape (NS 4.x as an example). When at an SSL protected site complete the following steps: 1. Click on "Communicator" on the toolbar. 2. Select "Tools" 3. Select "Security Info." 4. Click on "View Certificate." Another window will open containing the certificate details for the SSL certificate protecting the site.
